Twin engined IC powered models have always been of interest even if it is because they don't survive long...
If you are interested in flying twins, why not gain experience first with an old model converted to twin engine set up
|
I used this old Gangster 63 model and cut slots in the
leading edge to take two ply engine pods If expoxied in carefully the wing will keep its strength (destruction testing showed the wing joiner broke first..) |

|
The finshed job -A big spinner on the front reduces
the drag! The pod box contains the fuel tank and a throttle servo |

Based upon the success of this model I increased the wing span, enlarged the fin for more stability and made up a new fus design with a forward cockpit.
| This model flies really well - you just notice that its "heavy"! |

|
Other club members have made twins from all sort of
sports models. This is a twin wot 4. In fact this model inspired my
experiments with the Gangster.
A Thunder tiger high wing trainer has also been converted ! |
|
Practicing on a cheap twin is preferable to your first
experience being with something a little more costly.
This is a Mike Lovell plan G.A.F Nomad of 93" span |
